Skyline Drive is currently under construction. The existing residence is being demolished to make way for the new construction. During demo, we discovered an interesting, if not humorous, unintentional gesture towards sustainable construction.
There was a large courtyard area by the pool that, at one time, was landscaped. At some point, the landscape was removed and replaced by a very large concrete slab. I assume the previous owners wanted to minimize the maintenance associated with this area.
They must have liked the landscape or at least the idea of the landscape. When they poured the concrete, they had a green dye added which gave the concrete a green color like grass.
Ironically, the surface of the concrete was so faded from the sun that, only after the concrete was broken up, could the green color be seen.
