Scope: New Construction. 640 Square Feet.

Status: Complete.

This small residence was built to conform to AB 1866, the Accessory Dwelling Unit law that allows an additional unit, up to a maximum 640 square feet, to be built on a lot with an existing residence.  This project also fell under the scrutiny of a local design review board which greatly influenced the traditional exterior facade.  The residence is two stories, one bedroom, one and a half baths, with a carport.  The owner intended to rent the existing house and use this smaller residence as her home base from which to travel in her RV.  Thus, the owner had also requested that enough room be left on the lot to allow the RV to be parked next to the residence.
